e-Health, The Use of IT Development for Health

In this globalization era, IT (Information Technology) has become a necessary for people. IT is a technology to process data (making, getting, arranging, saving,and manipulating) in various ways
to get information which is useful for our life. Information technology has been developing rapidly and used in many fields, such health.

Ministry of Health Republic of Indonesia has issued about IT application for health, named e-Health that aims to serve the people more efficient. Definition of e-Health itself is healthcare practice supported by electronic processes and communication. If this project can reach the goal, the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and enhancement of society health degrees can be accelerated. IT development can help us solve the health service problems. We can apply the long distance treatment such tele-medicine, tele-consultation, and tele-radiology.
Tele-medicine is the use of telecommunication and information technologies in order to provide clinical health care at a distance. It helps eliminate distance barriers and can improve access to medical services that would often not be consistently available in distant rural communities. It is also used to save lives in critical care and emergency situation.
Tele-consultation simply means obtaining the professional opinion of a healthcare provider who is not physically present at the location where the patient and/or his primary healthcare provider are. It means the patient can still get consultation treatment without directly meet the doctor.
Teleradiology is the transmission of radiological patient images, such as x-rays, CTs, and MRIs, from one location to another for the purposes of sharing studies with other radiologists and physicians.Teleradiology improves patient care by allowing Radiologists to provide services without actually having to be at the location of the patient. This is particularly important when a sub-specialist such as a MRI Radiologist, Neuroradiologist, Pediatric Radiologist, or Musculoskeletal Radiologist is needed, since these professionals are generally only located in large metropolitan areas working during day time hours. Teleradiology allows for trained specialists to be available 24/7.
Government collaborated with many parties such education institution, organization, and industry have been developing the long-distance treatment for health.
This technology would be very useful to increase the health quality of our nation. No need to worry about the rare of health expert because IT could solve it. Health service based on IT is more efficient. Not only helping the medical personnel but  also saving the use of documents charge. Besides, IT can give the health service better and faster.
